SEAFOOD IS IMPORTANT FOR THREE REASONS.

Making better food choices is now more important than ever as we resume eating together. Suffice it to say, your immune system will appreciate you taking the initiative to choose healthier foods for us to eat. But wouldn’t it be fantastic to mix elements of wellness with palate-pleasing flavor? Presently, seafood, a protein found in the ocean that, happily, gives locals more menu options than chicken.

You’re probably well aware of the benefits of eating fish, shrimp, scallops, oysters, and other sea-based specialties, which is great. So, since National Seafood Month is coming up in October, let’s dive into three specific reasons for making seafood the catch of any day:

Seafood fights against cardiovascular disease.

Consumption of seafood is useful in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, according to a recent research of Japanese-based fishing villages. To elucidate, another study found that people who ate fatty fish had a 34% lower risk of cardiovascular disease, and that 35 grams of fish per day could lower cardiovascular disease-related mortality rates. As the saying goes, the heart wants what it wants…it’s seafood!

Seafood packs punches of protein and vitamins.

All types of seafood are high in protein and contain vitamin E, which is a vital antioxidant. Seafood also assists with calcium absorption, thanks to the small, soft bones found in some fish. Additionally, seafood is high in reducing calories, while being low in saturated fat.

Seafood helps the brain function better.

Couldn’t we all use a little more brain power? By charging up on omega-3 fatty acids found in seafood, the brain gets the revving up it needs as seniors age.  These oceanic delicacies aid in brain development, improves cognitive performance, and lowers the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Talk about a superfood!

When it comes to eating, making better food choices is more important than ever. It’s enough to say that your immune system will reward you for being proactive in making better choices about what we eat. Need more information on how to incorporate seafood into your menus?
